How we approach house washing on Long Island.
House washing is the most-requested service we run on Long Island — and it should be. The north and east sides of almost every house on the island grow a green or black film (gloeocapsa magma, mildew, pollen) over 2–3 seasons. Pressure washing it with water blasts the vinyl and forces water behind the siding. We don't do that.
Instead, we soft wash — a low-pressure (under 500 PSI) application of a chlorinated cleaner, surfactant, and inhibitor. The solution dwells for 4–7 minutes, kills the organic growth at the root, and gets rinsed off with soft water. It's the method PWNA teaches. Done right, it lasts 18–30 months on most LI homes.
Every house wash starts with a 30-minute walk-through — we look at every elevation, measure linear footprint, confirm algae severity, tarp delicate landscaping, and quote you on the spot. No "call the office" routine. The number you get is the number you pay unless we find something structural we couldn't see (rot behind the downspout, for example).
